I have scoured the internet and I have never found anything that even adequately describes Eldar designs. Things are either too details or too isolated for my personal tastes. So I have resolved to make amends. In conjunction with my new Eldar army and Battle Fleet I will also make good Eldar terrain. I have some ideas already. When I get the chance I'll post my sketches. In the meantime, does anybody have any suggestions; maybe something in particular they want to see? Be as ambitious as you like, I can probably build it. With any luck I should have sketches up by the end of this week and begin work maybe next week.

I remember something was on the old wiki page for the ASP.

A floating city or something like that......

I could probably go on forever. I found these in about 10 minutes. And these are just inspiration, the actual buildings will be much more elegant.

Is the image "city4_juddski" in the photobucket supposed to be Eldar? Because it looks it.

The only image that I found to be evocative of my own concept of Eldar architecture was from the First Millennial Foundation's concept of Aquarius.

Actually, now that I think about it, some of the Aslan/Fteirle artwork from the Traveller universe is also very evocative of the Eldar aesthetic, so if you can find it that might be interesting to look up.

The Codex?  The majority of the artwork in the new Eldar Codex I find disappointing, but if you're talking about the 5e wargame rulebook...?  If you can sneak that photo that would be great, but generally speaking GW have been moving further and further away from the "organic" approach that I associate with the Eldar, making them Tolkien Elves in Space... <sigh>

Again, though, I would love to see that photo and to "flip" because they've nailed that art.

New Eldar artwork?

MUST HAVE. SHOW ME!!!

As for Eldar terrain, I will say this: It is the singular most difficult urban environment to recreate. Ever.
Kudos if you can do it, but I've always had trouble with it. Then again, I'm hardly an architect. Buildings aren't really my thing.

So I've been searching the internet for any kind of Eldar architectural reference. What little there is of it seems to be entirely inconsistent. In some its angular and crystalline, in others its mutable and organic, and still others have it egyptian inspired or with towering ivory spires. So now I guess I am trying to get a consensus as to what we all think these structures should look like.

My own vision is of flowing, interconnected organic towers. But I am also fond of a lattice work or weblike interweaving of wraithbone forms. I am having trouble coming up with a place or "practice" piece to start with. What kind of scale am I to use? Should it be a three foot tower, a sprawling dome complex, or what? Anybody have any ideas?

Very...Star Wars for some reason! I like it! Thank God they moved away from the Dawn of War designs!

This is not a one-liner

Make no mistake about it, gentlemen. That there is awesomeness on a stick. I don't care what anyone says.

I am thrilled to see that it looks very urban and high-tech. Previous Eldar architecture and landscapes, while excellent, have been more elfish with trees and bushes. This is just very high-tech and cool. Also note the pyramid formation. Nice and old school.

I see what you mean by "Star Wars", Malika. I guess it's a combination of aerodynamic and organic designs and the very Star Wars-esque Eldar grav vehicles. And of course, any cityscape with awesome proportions, roads suspended in mid air and streams of vehicles flying between buildings is bound to bring thoughts about Coruscant Smiley

Where do you see pyramids in that picture CELS?

Barring that, all I have is one word: SWEET.

Alright, I lied I have more than one word. This is exactly what I'm looking for. I just came into a large quantity of insulation foam from a local construction site (they were throwing it away and I asked them to let me "dispose of it" for them. They said sure). As soon as I am not tired as all get out, I will post my own sketches. With any luck I'll begin prototyping the structures in the next coupla weeks.

ps. where did you find that photo oink?

Thanks, oink! Cheesy

Actually, that isn't too bad for an Eldar urban conglomeration.  To address CELS' comments about the "elf-inspired" imagery from previous material, I feel that they both most certainly have their place.  Noting, of course, that the "city" is merely technological golden trees... Wink

Forgive me for not being CELS, but the pyramids are on the left hand page about a third of the way from the top.  There is a large central pyramid and what looks like two, perhaps three, flanking small pyramids.  It's on the curved "cross" walkway thingy.

Nice.
