Well. I'm currently trying to finish up the IA article for the site and I thought I would give everyone a nice little treat by showing off a brief timeline of events surrounding the chapter.  Comments, mistakes etc all welcome!

DateEvent
510.M36The invasion of the Massilian Subsector and the continued threat posed by the Ork worlds established by Waaagh Tuskragga results in the High Lords of Terra sanctioning the formation of a chapter of the Adeptus Astartes to protect the region of the Esquiline Quadrant.
529.M36The Adeptus Mechanicus fleet yards on Gryphonne IV begin the construction of the space frame for the chapters principle battle barge.
534.M36Genetors on Mars complete the selection of the 19 zygotes that will form the basis of the new chapter’s geneseed.
548.M36 – First humans recruited from the worlds of the Anargo Sector and begin the processes to transform them into warriors of the Adeptus Astartes.
559.M36Ten marines from the fledgling chapter enter battle for the first time alongside a contingent from the Silver Skulls Chapter.
560-649The chapter conducts training and campaigns under the guidance of the Silver Skulls.
570.M36On Gryphonne IV the chapter’s first spaceship is completed and named the Denunciator.
649.M36Official Founding of the Maledictors Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes.  Chapter Master Gnaeus adopts the chapter’s decree and symbolically accepts their livery, heraldry and the Maledictors name.
649.M36Under command of the chapter master, the first veterans of the Maledictors repaint their armour and adopt honorific names to denote their service to the Emperor.
007-012.M37The chapter is engaged against the last vestiges of the pro-Vandire forces in the Kenan Sector.
012.M37The Denunciator proves instrumental in breaking the defensive fleet lines surrounding Aventine during the Kenan Offensive.
275.M37The Denunciator is withdrawn from service and undergoes an extensive refit in orbit of the Proteus forgeworld.
333-343.M38A number of marines from the Maledictors aid in the battles of the Shrine Wars.
999.M38Members of the 7th Company earn recognition for their heroic efforts in the defence of Rhizoma Approach on Massil during the Castellan Invasion.
004.M39The Maledictors disengage from the Castellan Subsector, declaring the campaign over.  Fighting continues for two more years.
394-487.M39Over two-hundred marines embark upon a crusade that takes them far from the Esquiline Quadrant as they battle xenos and heretics across dozens of worlds.
592-617.M39Opportunistic raids by Ork forces against Castellan are significantly reduced following interdiction by the Maledictors’ fleet against the Ork flotillas.  This serves to further discord amongst the clans on Ghrazdrum, weakening the threat they pose to the sector.
623.M39The Invigilous sows havoc in the Hestia system as it launches surprise raids against the orbital defences and production facilities above the third planet.
456-457.M40The entire chapter deploys en-masse across Castellan freeing up the entrenched defenders to launch rapid counter-attacks against the Ork hordes.

Cheers

Sorry for the edit... Thought that it would be slightly easier to read as a table.

Didn't read it as a non-table, but it IS easy to read as a table...

however, there is an error in the table (not content, no idea about that) and that's in the 7th row. I believe the year should also be put under the other years there?

Well, I suppose we've seen most of it before, so there's not much to comment on. Some changes in regards to the founding and such, but it's pretty much in agreement with what I remembered from previous discussions. I do feel that some of the entries are so shorth that they become a bit uninformative. For example, there are a few notes about battles and wars the Maledictors have participated in, but without any description of the setting or outcome, it's not quite as useful. The reader just ends up going "So what happened? Where is Hespia? And what did they do in the Shrine Wars? On which side were they? Where was that crusade "far away from the Esquiline quadrant"?"

But yeah, thanks for posting it. Timelines are a bitch to collate, but can be very useful to both new and old members.

To be honest it has been the most use for me.  I've actually worked out where and what the chapter were up to during certain time periods and also what else was happening in the Sector.  As you say CELS I have been a little bit vague in places, mostly because I don't know myself.  Place like Soranthan are just a name at the moment, maybe someone would like to expand upon them?  To be honest they are very useful when writing about the chapter in general as there is a base point for there actions etc.

Cheers

Don't be afraid of expanding upon such things yourself. It's meant to be a collaborative project and if everyone's too afraid of stepping outside their own little boxes, we'll progress with remarkable lack of speed. I think you'll find that the article will develop much faster if you work on the loose ends yourself. Indeed, it might even help to attract the interest of others as you get involved in their concepts. I'd certainly raise an eyebrow if you started writing about the Maledictors' involvement in the Shrine Wars, I'm sure the same is true for Malika and the Aventine Heresy.

And speaking of creation, I'm still waiting for your reply in the ab-human thread. When you have time.  Wink

I rather like the vague reference to the Shrine Wars, makes them seem both mysterious and epic, its like they are so well known within the sector(or by whoever compiled the timeline(yes I know it was Tynesh, but lets imagine its somefaceless clerk for the nonce)) that further reference is not needed. Might be an idea to mention more battles though as it looks like they've had an easy time of it, kicking back on the beach with their chilled beer while they wait for the once a century fight with the orks Wink

Well, we could always put a few raids in the Revocatus sector in there if you would like. Another interesting thing would be the development of the Meksum subsector. With them becoming the new big power in the Anargo sector it would be very possible that they need more protection, requesting more aid from Battlefleet Anargo and the Maledictors.
