There is so much exposition about 'Tactical' on the current website that it is muddying the concept and is in desperate needs simplification.

I will slice Tactical up, moving some of the more detailed stuff to 'Technique' and some of the exposition to the Blog.

Tactical is surprising simple, not that you would no it by reading the site (which is overly dense), and seems to play quite fast.

The reason for this post, and what I would like to know is; which areas are the most confusing to you, which areas do you think could really do with some diagrams, and which areas do you think or overly complicated.

I'm looking for quick (harsh) bullet points.  So I can compile a 'List of things to do'.

Hmm, I'm all up for having some sort of "Warspike Light" game. It would be cool to have relatively simple games which are still somewhat more realistic. While Warspike's goal is to create a (totally) realistic wargame the main idea is still that the game should revolve around tactics/strategies and not luck/game balance. So if the game is going to be simplified it's cool, as long as these main goals are not forgotten.

As mentioning in the thread about precision (shooting) I already mentioned something about making the Tactical and Technical Tiers more integrated. Meaning that players could still play these Tiers totally separated if they want to but also together, hence returning to the more "original" and complex version of Warspike.

I hadn't really though of a WarSpike lite (though it may be an idea, with set Troops and weapons, which would keep the options down and with examples could use these specific weapons). My aim is still going for the realism.

When I say 'simplified' I was really thinking of simplifying the language and descriptions, as it has been said that is seems very crunchy but once you get to grips it's quite quick and the crunch is really just my waffle obscuring the rules.

I'm thinking of putting the waffle in a separate page with links to Technique and Tactical and vice vera. So technique and tactical share the same waffle page of description and reasoning?

This way the jump from one to the other become clearer, and how the Tiers interact. It may be interesting for someone to read the tactical rules, click the link and go to the same section in the technique rules (with the growth of options and break downs) or be taken to a waffle page describing how it works, what it is based on, and real world sources.

Indeed, One concept is when player are in an RPG but encounter a larger battle. They could even to charge of demoralised Troops and 'lead' them using the Tactical rules while staying in RPG for their PC. The PC would fight using Technique rules, while the henchmen fight using Tactical rules (which are a summery and generalisation of the technique rules). In the RPG sense they are issuing orders and the Troops do it. With a bit of meddling from the GM is could work well with the rules as much a guide than hard and fast.
