While the daemon the Fabrtimortife follow is crafted of the despair of Tech-Priests, Enginseers, etc., the Masked Lord is created out of their hopes and aspirations, so they are similar in that way.
Though I do also agree that this cult still seems quite similar to the Fabrimortife, I think the above is quite an interesting point and perhaps one that should be made more of. The Fabrimortife and their daemon master arise from despair, and so fall in the Nurgle spectrum, however the Masked Lord arises from twisted hopes and ambitions, which is Tzeentchian. And yet despite this and the Gods Nurgle and Tzeentch generally being considered to be polar opposites you have two cults with similar modus operandi even though they fall into opposing 'camps' as it were. I find that quite interesting as it demonstrates how the chaos gods, etc are not as cut and dried as GW sometimes make out, but are actually quite fluid.
Once my exams are over I must get around to posting that Nurglish cult I was working on (a slightly more 'typical' Nurgle cult if there is such a thing of a group of former doctors and surgeons).
Yes, that was the intention.
