I kinda tripped over this site today for the first time and was totally blown away by the work that all of you have laid down in this amazing project!!
Glad that you like the project, Draugen, though I should warn you that we're in a period of re-vision. All this means is that for various reasons the project has essentially ground to a halt, so as a bit of a kick-start what we've done is taken a glance back at what went wrong (mostly initial set-up and who that eventually ended up being a shackle to creativity) and how we might improve on it.
What does that mean?
At the moment we're going through the materials that we have to remove some of the cliches that ended up cropping into an "average sector," but also reminding ourselves that Anargo is by no means
average (that shack to creativity again) even if it might be considered
representative of the Imperium at large. By representative, all that we mean is that it is to be used to rein in some of the excesses that can sometimes become attached to the 40k universe, especially fan projects.
This will manifest itself as a new, quicker and less restrictive protocol for world-building and a means of visualising the sector and the worlds in question (and downloadable files so that you can take the basic world and add to it yourself--maybe you'll contribute back to the project). Worlds--systems--will be integrated into a multi-layered narrative fashion, which means that we'll be concentrating on "plot hooks" as a means of offering people a number of "out of the box" directions that they can take their own interpretations of Anargo in, though of course everyone is free to toss out what they don't like, change things to suit themselves, etc.
Some or even many of the worlds that people have contributed thus far may be used, and if not then the chances are that they can be tweaked to fit the "thumbnail" approach that we're currently formulating. (A "thumbnail" is basically a short, evocative paragraph about the nature of the world that can be used for world-building when the world is narratively "significant," in that it is involved in one of those plot hooks.) There will also be "blank slate" worlds with less guidelines.
Couple this with the goal to produce background documents that begin to address some of the things that the 'fluff' fell down at? We hope that the project is basically the best of the past with a new spice/approach that will make it an interesting setting for people wanting to play wargames, roleplaying games, or just read about and write some stories in.
I am gonna use The Anargo sector for my upcoming Dark Heresy campaign and is intrested in getting all this material you have into a book that i will get from a print on demand service. I will only get a copy for myself (if nobody else is intrested?) and will take care of the layout.
Unfortunately, you're not going to find most of the material about the Anargo sector that is out there. Some of it is contained on old archive threads, databases, etc. I'm sure that someone is laughing about how like the
Adeptus Administratum and the
Adeptus Mechanicus that is, but I'm afraid that it's a fact of the evolution (and devolution) of the project. It's a part of the reason for the re-vision, as well as the fact that we're all older and more "mature" and steeped in 40k lore etc.
You're welcome to use what materials you can find. The various worlds of the sector you'll find scattered between the archive forums (there's a thread on this subject), the temporary Explore site, etc.
We do, however, ask that the materials that you put together and print out are not placed on a PoD service. Not only are these materials older and do not reflect the current status of the project (its intent, its status, etc.), but it is also our desire to make a diverse range of materials available for people to print out in any manner they see fit. A part of this is the development of a project "branded layout," but also just integrating the revised materials into a coherent whole.
On the other hand, you mention layout, which I presume to take it to make that you have skills in DTP/graphic design. If this is the case then that is the kind of expertise that we can use, especially if it edges more to the graphic design/art side of things. Especially if you couple those with Flash skills.

(I'm proficient in InDesign and can handle most if not all technical sides of layout.)
So my question to you guys is of course if this is ok in your eyes?
Again, to summarise, you're free to print it out for your own purposes. We ask that you do not put the file onto a PoD service unless you then remove it from that service so that it is truly for your own purposes. (Obviously there's nothing that we can do to stop you, but the materials will soon been outmoded and not even really that relevant to the project.)
On the other hand, if you're willing to help out, we're more than willing to explore the placement of articles, etc., to be associated with PoD services, but with the re-visioning of the project that is currently underway it means that there is going to be a "slight" delay.
Look forward to hearing back from you.

Regards,
Kage
