Important for some aspects of development (Necron presence for example, also things like impact of the 13th Black Crusade and availability of certain other things) what is considered present date in the Anargo sector?

Did you settle for a year, even a date or rather a decade or century?

The current year is 470.M41.
It is shortly after the First War for Armageddon, which saw Daemon Primarch Angron banished from the Matterium by the Grey Knights.
300 years have passed since the Gothic War.
It is 300 years before the First Tyrannic war.
It is approximately 300 years before Necrons begin to appear more frequently in the Imperium (before this, they are usually only encountered on their own tombworlds)
It is 300 years before the crusade in the Lithesh sector, which established the Tau as a significant threat in the Eastern Fringe.

Our idea was to move the time setting of the project later, when we have built the sector to a satisfactory level and are ready to begin speculating about the narrative, the development of the Anargo sector based on our members' ideas, wargame campaigns, fiction contributions, roleplaying campaigns and whatever else. (Eventually, we will start posting more in the Narrative thread to explore ideas here)

For now, it's a very interesting time in the Imperium. According to Codex Tau, the Eastern Fringe has a very powerful Imperial presence during this time, and any significant threat identified by the Imperium is dealt with almost immediately. For a while, the Eastern Fringe is relatively well protected, untill all hell breaks loose circa 750.M41.

Thank you.

That is enough information to work with.

Not to mention a useful reminder to everyone else about the "interesting times" (in the Chinese saying sense) that Anargo is set in.  Hmmn... Definitely something that needs to be included in the "Sector at a Glance" section of the Explore website. Cheesy

I know it is hidden somewhere but I can't find it anymore:

Where is the Anargo Sector actually located?

My first post here, but in my exploration I was wondering the same.

I have been using pages 91-92 from the WH40k Core Rulebook as my campaign map and I would like to make a note for the Anargo Sector.

If I may, what do you mean by "make a note for the Anargo Sector?"

Pretty much use the text option to add a note to jpeg copy from the book (the book was too damned expensive to think about writing in it).

I have a rough "area" on the map where the DH Calixian Sector is as well as trying to correlate the maps from sources like Eye of Terror Codex into one comprehensive map.

This is the closest we have to a galaxy map showing the Anargo sector. It's been quite hard finding an appropriate map of the milky way that A) Looks good, B) Shows the correct location of Sol, C) Makes it easy to identify the galactic arms and D) Has a good resolution.

However, this should be good enough to give you an indication of where we're at Smiley

And as long as we're giving information about the setting of the sector, here are two maps to show you what's where. They're not completely accurate (in regards to the location of the various worlds within the Anargo subsector, specifically), but as above, it gives you an idea.

Shocked Wowzers.  It just goes to show the fickle nature of memory.  I was sure that Anargo was much closer to the galactic bulge, but there we go.  Cheesy

actually,

seeing now how close it actually is to the saggitarius arm - and therefore the Ultramar Realms - I feel much better about making Genestealers part of my RPG Campaign. All in all it is just a few month of warptravel between the two areas. I neccessary that might even explain a splinterfleet in one of the surrounding sectors.

Hmmm, that Ghostship (great image and great idea) is said to be 1190 metres in length. Then it is said that is smaller then the Imperial Navy Cobra, to be honest I read couple of times (and saw that supported) that a Cobra Destroyer is between 700-800 metres in lenght.

The stuff on the ghost ship isn't 100% done yet, so these small contradictions can still be removed. Smiley But yeah, I think Heimdallr will see that when he gets back here!

The size inconsistency is my "fault", as I was using my own size calculations for Imperial ships, rather than using the ship sizes which are apparently accepted by the BFG community. Since GW is so vague about these things, it's not like the sizes are readily available for everyone and easy to find.... not yet, anyway. Which is one of the reasons we have this project Cheesy

You seem to be going through Groundhog Day each time we brush on this topic, as you always say the same thing Cheesy

But yes, the Anargo sector is quite "close" (on a galactic scale anyway) to the Eastern Fringe. It was done in order to justify the later [potential] arrival of Tyranids and perhaps even Tau, allowing people to set up realistic scenarios where such forces appear in the Anargo sector, even if we decided not to use that in the official narrative.
