No, it's not a reference to
Transformers
but rather one to CELS' topic in the
Wargame
forum. How many of us interested in Anargo are roleplayers, and, well, what are we going to do about it?
I'm Kage, and I'm a roleplayer. I've played and GM'd more systems than I would like to count, but at the moment I'm fixed and focused on
GURPS
because, well, I'm lazy. I just wanted one system that does everything for me that I want, so that I can then begin to bring the story to the scenario/campaign without having to monkey around with "system."

I'm EarthScorpion, and I play RPGs. I'm currently GMing a pen and paper Dark Heresy campaign, called "Wheels within Cogs within Minds." In addition, I have a great deal of new World of Darkness books (the Core, Werewolf, Mage, Promethean, Changeling, plus a number of suplements that take up over a metre of shelf space), and play on play by post nWoD games.
Incidentally, there is a thing in Mage called the Abyss, which is cut from the same cloth as the Warp. I'll probably be doing an article on Warp incursions, in a more subtle fashion than usual, using an Abyss-focussed sourcebook as reference.

As mentioned before - I am a Roleplayer and currently run a Dark Heresy game (Working title: My Game) which I plan to base in the anargo sector - namely I have used one of your planets so far and plan to use more of them.
I can hardly say how many systems I have played over time, but my current favorites are Exalted and Savage Worlds. I was working on a savage 40k for a while - but knowing how GW deals with their IP I started using DH as soon as it came out.

I would be interesting in hearing more about this in the appropriate forum, EarthScorpion. After I created the "Layered Warp" approach to the warp, I then discovered
GURPS Mage the Ascension
and reailsed that some bugger had come up with something similar (perhaps exactly the same) before. In this case, the warp very much becomes the Umbra... The Abyss seems a new concept, though, since I'm not familiar with it from the above book (which is based off 1e, I believe).
Anyway, I once again invite you to open up discussion in the...
Galaxy and Beyond
forum. I would love to see this kind of expansion to the basic premise of the Layered Warp, seeing it as both integrable with that premise as well as expanding on some of the basic themes of the 40k universe itself.
Also, on a more selfish note, does anyone care to drop by and chat (read: help me with) psykers in my interpretation of the 40k universe?

I'm not currently an RPG player, but I do have an interest in 40k based RPGs, I have been dipping into the Dark Heresy core rulebook on a regular basis and, though it's not quite the same, regularly read Inquisitor articles, etc as well.
I don't know how much I would be able to help but I'd be happy to provide a person to bounce ideas off if nothing else Kage.

You and me both, Dragon Lord. I haven't been able to be actively involved in an RP - 40k or otherwise - in years. I would love to change that, though, but the demands of this project coupled with my own inherent laziness mean that... Well, you get the picture.

Both are sources of valuable information, after all.

Then drop by. I would greatly appreciate it, regardless of whether you hate everything that I attempt!
Psykers are my first concern, since I feel these are central to every single interpretation of the 40k universe.

Well you know me, since you are the reason I have found this place Kage.
I am a roleplayer but more often a Storyteller (GM's run someone's stories
) with an all adult group (I think the youngest is 30). I worked years for Waldenbooks, ordering anything I thought was interesting and later at a hobby store through college. Name it and I have probably played in it or ran it or painted miniatures for it... well you get the idea.
I have owned or still do just about every GW video game, book, TT game and RPG they have released (which makes me wonder how the hell can they be talking all my money and still not turning a profit!!) and most are in pdf for easy access.
You have already seen some of my work on DR's site and the wheels are turning as I drift through the Anargo Sector.

I have been working more from outlines of plot events and filling npcs, places, etc on the fly and writing more on them in the week btw play. My players are too smart for their own good and can usually tell me who, what and where when they are playing some store purchased idea.
I have a list of "Hook, Line & Sinker..." ideas and data and I am still working out how I want to progress them through DH since we are all learning a new system and just how bad things can get with the wrong dice roll (Dark Summoning from Perils of the Warp... BAD!)
I would like to sit down and actually write out something worth publication-class effort, but the Space Marines are taking a lot of my time.

I'm a complete rookie (or noob/n00b as you youngsters seem to be calling it nowadays!) when it comes to roleplaying. I had my "first contact" with roleplaying on the old forum which ended up with warriors who all seemed to speak in pseudo ebonics. The "second contact" which was more my first real attempt at playing an RPG was CELS' campaign which can be found on our old forums but is currently on a hiatus (I really do hope it will get revived one day!).
But yeah...I'll drop by and try to be useful and learn here!

Hi all,
I pop by this forum (well, I say
this
forum but everytime I get here it's technically a different forum
) every couple of years to see if Kage has managed to finish designing psykers to his liking. Ha ha, no luck yet eh Kage?
How long has it been now... four years?
In my time I've played a lot of Rifts (D20... bleh. But awesome setting), Earthdawn (interesting but rather complex Step system), Deadlands (probably the best RPG system ever, in my opinion) and Call of Cthulu (also great, loved the experience system).
Since then I've spent quite a lot of time trying to blend the atmosphere and experience system of CoC with the initiative system from Deadlands, and force them into a D100 system in a 40k setting.
I recently purchased Dark Heresy fervently hoping it would be good enough that just a few minor modifications would make it playable. Instead I've had to put it down in disgust on several occasions. Hell, even Inquisitor had one bit of games design I really liked (Pause For Breath) but as far as I can tell DH actually has no redeeming features. So I'm back to the drawing board as well.

To be fair to myself, if I actually had the time to sit down and write the darned thing, it would already be completed. I just never seem to find it.

Funny how I never noticed this part of the forum...
As some of you know already I have particular interest in GURPS, even though I've never roleplayed with that system; it is more of a "theoretical" interest
But then... heck, I haven't roleplayed anything for about 10 millennium now.

Agreed! For some reason it seems to be spreading like the plague though.

Well I have sort of a 'love-n-hate' relationship with WH40K myself.
In any case it's good to see that are a fair number of roleplayers around

Might as well make myself known here as well. I have very little experience indeed with the pen and paper stuff, although I have tried it a bit. I love roleplaying, and while the nitty gritty number crunching rarely interests me very much (I consider it a necessary evil), my favourite part of roleplaying is definitely the dialogue, the character interaction. I guess that's one of the reasons I haven't gotten into the real life roleplaying; it's harder to pretend to be a cherub in person, not to mention that it's harder to act like your old buddy Jim is a Lord Inquisitor when he's sitting right in front of you, stuffing his face with cheezedoodles.
As for the original question about what I intend to do about my interest in roleplaying? Who knows. I'll keep my eyes open for a game.

I also roleplay, though I must confess I have never even seen the 40k RPG. I mostly play fantasy games but have just picked up an awesome indie RPG called Burning Empires. Its a scifi setting and really quite good. I recommend this game to anybody who enjoys roleplaying games. Its written by a veteran roleplayer for roleplayers, with emphasis on storytelling and player interaction.
I've played or collected dozens of systems over time, ranging in topic from looney toons to apocalypse.
Most of my experience is with running games and I very rarely get an opportunity to sit on the other side of the screen and play.
