Good to see you here, Warboss. Cheesy

Quote from: Warboss Waaazag
Its written by a veteran roleplayer for roleplayers, with emphasis on storytelling and player interaction.
It looks a bit comic book-y to me, which is perhaps not surprising given the origins of the game, but niftily laid out.  Of course, you cannot tell anything about the true content by having a quick preview on DriveThruRPG! Cheesy

Anyway, hope that you find yourself on the "other side of the screen" for a 40k RPG... Cheesy

Edit: This post generated a contentious comment: "Incidentally, aren't all games created by (?veteran?) roleplayers for roleplayers? Wink" which Warboss Waaazag elaborated upon.  As a result of this I have split off his and my own reply, since it is far more suitable in a separate thread.

The new thread can be found at the following location:

Hi.
I have Role Played on occasion.
The level of enjoyment seem to be proportional to the amount of beer available,  Grin.
AD&D , Rifts , Paranoia, Super Heroes, Vampire the Masquerade ,etc.

Not an offcianado , but a reasonably keen amatuer.
(I like RPG-Skirmish minature games as well.)

Mostl D&D at first (man I loved Spelljammer, oh well...space hamsters just twinge my heart I suppose)...and Gurps, and few others. Lately been trying my hand at Dark Heresy but thats bout all for rpg side.

I have a soft spot in my heart for Spelljammer myself, Alexius, so it's good to see you here.

As to where I'm from?  Surprisingly not too far from you... Wink

Lol didnt want to seem to weird or anything...just seems like on the internet I hardly ever see people residing in Virginia, maybe it's just me...Maryland though, every time someone flames me they ussualy reside there. Anyway, back to subject: Yes Spelljammer definately is my first love in Campaign worlds... seemed to exemplify TSR "lighter" side to me, while also having the coolest bad guys. Scro (Orcs), Liche's in Pyramid Ships, hamster's and gnomes. Argh...I blabble, but anyway...I would definately run a campaign in the Anargo Sector..this project seems alot interesting thing Calixis (and a million times more detailed), and a rpg Gamemasters primer type thing for ASP would be awesome.

Glad that you liked the resources, Alexius.  Hopefully we'll be able to make it a bit more presentable shortly. Cheesy

But, yes, I'm a metaphorical stones throw away from you to the south, at about two hours (ish) from DC...

Hello. My name is Beardonaut, and I'm a roleplayer *all: "Hi Beardnaut!"*

I've been playing WH40K for...I would guess 17 years. Roleplaying games for 22 years. For now I prefer oWoD, currently GM:ing the Transylvania Chronicles campaign though heavily reworked, and a campaign for Swedish post-apocalyptic RPG Mutant. I'm also participating in an online Vampire: the Requiem campaign some friends are running. I am one of the "unofficial" players, unknown to the main group who control the primogen.

My favorite game is probably Kult, which is also Swedish. Best. Setting. Ever. So sad it died.

On the "to play" list are:
- Dark Heresy. Starting up in a couple of weeks.
- Orpheus. The Sixth Sense meets the Millennium Group.
- Nobilis. The cover describes it as "Hellraiser meets Neil Gaiman. On acid. With flowers." Still trying to get my head around the setting, which is...bizarre.
- Changeling: the Lost. nWoD. Extremely dark. I like.

I'm currently GMing a pen and paper Dark Heresy campaign, called "Wheels within Cogs within Minds."

Excellent campaign name. I'm intrigued. Spill.

In addition, I have a great deal of new World of Darkness books (the Core, Werewolf, Mage, Promethean, Changeling, plus a number of suplements that take up over a metre of shelf space)

*coughs into his hand* Amateur! *cough* I would say I have three meters of RPG books. Not sure, since it's all spread out and some of it is boxed in the basement. Though in the end, he who has the most stuff when he dies, still dies...

play on play by post nWoD games.

What's a post nWoD game? I'm intrigued again.

That's all the RPG talk I've got for now.

Play by post = Forum RP, essentially.

Ok, time to roll out the credentials. Been RPing for about 7 years now, the first few years of that were just 3.5, but since I started going to an RP club about four and a half years ago I've played:

More 3.5 (Eberron ftw!)
Mage: The Ascension. I could write reams about this, but I won't unless prodded, as the games been going for about 4 years now
Call of Cthulu
Return to Castle Falkenstein
World of Warcraft RPG. I seperate this from the 3.5 cos it just doesn't really feel like a 3.5 game when we play it.
Hunter: The Reckoning

I'm currently running Dark Heresy while the Mage ST lets his brain recover. The players have just been the victim of a small Xanatos Gambit set up by the Alpha Legion which has resulted in the group converting to Chaos after allowing the AL to murder the Tyrantine Cabal at the heart of their fortress-moon. It was a bit of a convert or die moment, so they're now bluffing to their superiors that everythings fine and dandy and they're still loyal.

I like to think of myself as a roleplayer, though my practical experience is almost totally limited to D&D3.5. Via forum PbP, I've done a bit of freeform, but preferred the structured rulesets much more. I've always found GURPS intriguing for its sheer versatility, though I've never actually seen the rules themselves. Paranoia makes me laugh, though I've never played it due to lack of enough physical RPer friends to do it with.

Hello all. I'm still reading through the reams of material here and will stay quiet till I feel I have a better grip on the setting, but I thought a small introduction in order and seeing as how RPGs of the pen and paper variety could well be descibed as my passion I thought here was ideal.

So yes, I'm a roleplayer, storyteller (GM, DM, God, Universe etc) and Warhammer for well over 12 years and counting. I shan't list what I've played (which is long) and what I've read/own (which is much longer still) just state that I have decent knowledge of RPG theory and practice. I'll see what I can add to the Anargo RP material when I feel confident I can contribute.

As an aside, for all the editing errors and somewhat clunky (only somewhat) system, Dark Heresy is a very appropriate game for the 40k universe and most importantly, more fun than a barrel full of Jokaero on Spur.

Glad to see you hear, Sir Doc.  You've come at an opportune time since we are (truthfully this time! Wink) on the cusp of getting the Anargo website up and running and "released" to the wider public. (Quotation marks because they can see it now if they really wanted to.  Check out the WiP here to get a general idea, with the RP section here.)

Earthscorpion is tinkering with Dark Heresy set in the Anargo Sector, which you might be interested in, on his 'blog ]here, and I'm hoping that he'll distill some of the information outside of the campaign specifics so that we can have some Anargo Dark Heresy stuff.

LOL.  Interesting way of describing it.  System combined with the parochial nature of that particular setting has me disagreeing with you, but I'm just contrary and disagreeable at the moment, so feel free to ignore me.

Again, though, it's good to see more roleplayers here.  We've got some really interesting ideas going on here that we just need the time and people to bring them to fruition.  So, we'll wait to hear back from you.  But keep your eye on the Explore website! Cheesy

Regards...

Welcome to the ASP, Sir Doc. Once we have a few more articles up on the Explore website, the background of the sector should be outlined rather well. Then all that remains is to fill in the details. Which might take a while, given the sector's rather long history (possibly going back a few million years Smiley ).

Anyway, looking forward to seeing anything you can come up with.

Um.  Hellos everyone.  My name's Luddite and i'm a roleplayer.

I guess i started small, buying D&Ds in the playground, then getting older boys to buy AD&Ds for me from the local Newsagents.

Then i moved on to harder stuff...BRP systems that got me really hooked.

I did try Rolemaster but i ended up in hospital, so i didn't try it again.

In know it got bad around the time i started dabbling in storyteller systems.  My homelife started to suffer; i couldn't hold down a steady job.  I got into burgling and housebreaking to feed my Supplement habit.

My darkest times came a few years later...i...well....i took Amber Diceless...

*Sob*

But its ok.  Things haven't been too bad lately and i can take RGPs or leave them now.  I feel i've taken back control of my life...

 Grin

Yes, well, i've been RPing for decades now since D&D 1st Ed., and like many here have roamed across the gaming spectrum.

Most of my experience is as a GM, although i've played whenever i've found someone else willing to GM!

My interests for years have been very much on design, in that elusive search for an RPG menchanical system that perfectly combines;

Utility
Unobtrusiveness
Support for roleplaying
Narrative capacity

I've not yet found it, but i have found bits of it in different systems.  they don't seem to bolt together very well though and end up looking like and Ork Battlewagon... Undecided

I'm very much keener on the story and on the characters developing within it, than i am on the neccessary crunch.

For Anargo, i'm a 40k fan as i see it as an immensely satisfying sandbox, presenting as it does, some VERY traditional gaming memes (and cliches), but giving the room to reinterpret according to your own perceptions.  Of course i'm ambivalent about that as sometimes the urge becomes overwhelming to simply scream, 'JUST TELL US WHAT IT IS!!!' at GW... Heh... Hopefully we'll be able to get some online RP sorted out at some point, Luddie.  I'm kind of hoping that we will be able to use it to expand the narrative of the sector, progressing the story somewhat...

I've actually finished my offline campaign, and am thus ... sitting around until I actually get around to writing up the copious amounts of notes that I generated for the game.  It is a tale of violence, greed, callousness to ones fellow man, and that's just the player characters.  Actually, that's to a large extent the player characters.  Roll Eyes

For the RPers who haven't seen it (just waving my own trumpet, to mix metaphors):
An In-Character discussion of some of the events of my game
Wheels within Cogs within Minds, the Actual Play itself.

Any way, I've just found Cthulhutech, and I'm rather liking the system.  It's like if the Storytelling System and D20 had strange, platonic solid/non-platonic solid sex, and this would be the offspring.  You have a base 6 Attributes, various skills ranked 1-5 (which is the number of d10s you can roll for an action), and the difficulty changes target number.  You roll the dice, and then can take the highest, or multiples of a single number, or series of numbers.  For example, if you rolled 9, 6, 6, you can take the 6 and the 6 to be a 12, and add that to your base, rather than the 9.  In addition, you can spend Drama points to buy dice after you roll, and the health system has a nice degregation of ability as you get injured.  There are some problems, like the discontunity between Integrity (vehicle) and Vitality (infantry), such as the fact that, on average, it requires 250 points of Vitality damage to get past one point of Integrity armour, and the standard weakness of tanks in a mecha game (the tank has the same amount of Integrity as some power armours), but the latter is a genre issue.
